Documents checklist for South Africa
Mandatory Requirements:
Passport:
The original passport with a validity for at least 30 days after the intended stay/departure date from South Africa and minimum two blank pages for visa stamping.
Please Note :
a) Attach all old passports (if any) and copies of first & last page of the passport.
b) Handwritten passports are not accepted.
South Africa Visa Form:
So one visa application Form DHA- 84 to be duly filled in BLACK INK and block letters & signed by the applicant.
Photo Dimension:
So two recent camera clicked passport size coloured photographs on white background with 80% face coverage on a matt or semi-matt finished paper (35 mm x 45 mm).
Additionally note: Photograph should not be more than 3 months old and should not be used in any of the previous visas.
Personal Cover Letter:
Covering-Letter from applicant stating his name, designation, passport number and purpose & duration of visit. So the letter should be duly signed by the applicant and addressed to – The Visa Officer, High Commission of the Republic of South Africa, New Delhi.
a) Covering-Letter on Letterhead if applicant is Self Employed or on plain paper if Employed.
Bank statements:
Personal/Sponsor/company bank statement for last three months with original bank stamp and signature on every page & a minimum balance of Rs. 60000
Additionally : Required sponsorship letter from sponsor.
Certificate :
a) Marriage certificate
Proof of Employment:
An NOC for leave from employer/ school/ university clearly mentioning applicants name, passport number and duration of visit. The letter must be duly signed by the authorised signatory stating his/her name, designation, contact details & address.
Hotel Bookings:
Hotel booking along with the day to day itinerary.
Ticket:
Confirmed return/onward air ticket.
Birth Certificate:

Consent Letter: So if minor is accompanied by both parents then consent is not required and if child is not accompanied by one or both the parents then Parental consent affidavit needs to be submitted along with the application from single or both parents.
Please Note: So all documents must either be original or certified as true copies of the original, by a competent authority. Documents not in English must be accompanied by the sworn translation.
Medical Certificate: Additionally yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.
Medical:
If applicant is travelling from a yellow fever risk country (including low risk countries such as Sao Tome and Principe, Somalia, United Republic of Tanzania and Zambia) or is transiting through a yellow-fever risk country then Yellow Fever Certificate is mandatory.
Repatriation Draft:
If required, repatriation draft of Rs 40,000 in the favour of “South African High Commission” payable at Mumbai has to be submitted.
Refund of Repatriation Amount:
Post return from South Africa one can apply for refund. Below are the requirements for the same.
a) So passport
b) So visa Refund Form
c) So covering Letter
d) So cancelled cheque
e) Original receipt of DD submission
f) Boarding pass or ticket itinerary.
But kindly be informed that passport will be returned in 5-6 working days & the refund process will take around 35-40 days.
Please Note:
So if applying for Double or Multiple entry visas, the applicant has to submit a separate letter mentioning the reason for the same, along with the above mentioned documents.
